Sound Shore Medical Center
Announces Medical Board President

Sound Shore Medical Center (SSMC) is pleased to announce the election of Stephen Trauzzi, MD as Medical Board President. He assumed the position on January 1, 2011 for a two year term. As Medical Board President, Dr. Trauzzi also serves as a member of the Sound Shore Medical Center Board of Governors, where he reports on the quality and efficiency of medical care provided to SSMC patients.

In his new position, Dr. Trauzzi oversee the Medical Board as it acts on all matters of medical staff business, including coordinating and monitoring activities of and policies adopted by the staff and departments. In addition, the Board ensures professionally ethical conduct and competent clinical performance by staff members.

Commenting on the election, President and CEO of Sound Shore Medical Center John R. Spicer said, “A Medical Board is a vital, decision-making body and underpinning of healthcare delivery at Sound Shore Medical Center. Having a highly-qualified and dedicated President, like Stephen Trauzzi, assures the Medical Board process will continue to act in the best interest of physicians, the Medical Center and most importantly, our patients.” He continued, “I congratulate Dr. Trauzzi on this honor and look forward to working with him in his new position.”

Dr. Trauzzi is Chief of Urology at Sound Shore Medical Center and is immediate past President of the New York State Urological Society and serves on the Board of Directors of the American Association of Clinical Urologists. In addition, he is newly elected to the Board of Advisors of the American Cancer Society – Westchester Division and is a long-time member of the New Rochelle Rotary Club.

Dr. Trauzzi is in private practice at 120 Warren Street, New Rochelle, NY and can be reached at 914.636.3625. He received his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine and his residency training in surgery/urology at Downstate and St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital. Dr. Trauzzi is married with a daughter and lives in Scarsdale.
