Webster Bank Funds
Summer Sounds Concert Series

Before the Beatles tribute band Mystery Tour took the stage at Hudson Park on Wednesday night, Webster Bank formally presented a check to the New Rochelle Council on the Arts to fund this summer’s series of free concerts in the park. The Emil Paolucci Summer Sounds Concert Series -- every Wednesday night at 7:30 pm at the Hudson Park Bandshell -- is produced by the New Rochelle Council on the Arts in partnership with the New Rochelle Department of Parks and Recreation. (In addition Metro Med is underwriting the July 21st concert by New Rochelle Opera, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary.)
Webster Bank was founded in 1935 and is preparing to celebrate its 75th anniversary in October. “Webster believes an important part of our mission is to give of ourselves in the communities where we live and serve,” said Brendan Sachtjen, Webster’s regional president for Westchester and Fairfield counties. “As a community-oriented bank, we’re pleased to support events like the Emil Paolucci Summer Sounds Concert series that do so much to create and sustain vibrant communities.”
Robert Vanderslice, SVP and relationship manager in Webster’s Government and Institutional Banking Group, said Webster was excited about the opportunity to support the concert series. “This concert series is one of the highlights of the summer. We’re delighted we’re able to help bring music and family entertainment to New Rochelle for eight consecutive Wednesdays.”
Bill Zimmerman, head of New Rochelle’s Department of Parks and Recreation, was enthusiastic about the partnership: “I’m pleased with the support from Webster Bank, our new community partner and primary sponsor, and the continued energy demonstrated by our New Rochelle Council on the Arts in producing this series. The support of Webster Bank has made it possible for us to continue to bring free concerts to the community. Their generosity is an example of true commitment to the community they serve. I am looking forward to a wonderful summer full of music.”
“Webster Bank’s commitment to our community speaks for itself,” added Judith Weber, President of the New Rochelle Council on the Arts. “In this time of government funding cut-backs, it is local businesses, which truly demonstrate their support for the community, that will make the difference.”
