13th Annual National Foundation for Women Legislators’ Essay Contesty
Seven female high school junior and senior students will win an all-expenses-paid trip to attend the National Foundation for Women Legislators (NFWL) annual conference and receive a $3,000 college scholarship. Applicants must write an essay addressing this year’s topic, “Freedom and Civic Virtues,” which calls upon students to describe how moral principles and the United States Bill of Rights shape the role of young adults in civic engagement.
The conference provides college-bound women with the opportunity to network with hundreds of women lawmakers from across the United States, while learning about public policy and receiving valuable leadership training. The conference will be held this year on November 18-22, at The Ritz – Carlton Grande Lakes in Orlando, Florida.
“The National Foundation for Women Legislators is an outstanding organization that works to connect women leaders with one another and to enhance the leadership and governing ability of women,” commented Senator Oppenheimer. “As a member of this group, I have seen firsthand the impact this organization has had not only on its members, but also in government. This is a wonderful opportunity for young women; I strongly encourage them to apply.”
