Installation Ceremony
Board of Education Vice President Chrisanne Petrone administered the oath of office to two Board of Education members-elect on June 30, 2010. Valerie Orellana and Lianne Merchant were both elected in May to each serve a five-year term on the Board of Education of the City School District of New Rochelle beginning July 1, 2010 and ending June 30, 2015.
They will serve as trustees, replacing Cindy Babcock-Deutsch who served ten years, and Jerome Smith, who had been a member of the Board of Education for fifteen years.
Rev. Denise Smartt Sears, Pastor of the New Rochelle United Methodist Church gave the Invocation during the Installation Ceremony.
Superintendent of Schools Richard Organisciak was Master of Ceremonies. Mayor Noam Bramson extended greetings from the City of New Rochelle.Nicholas Carlin, a vocalist, and recent graduate of the Class of 2010, sang an original musical selection. Attending the public installation ceremony were family, friends, campaign supporters, as well as City Council members and members of both City and School District administration.
