Sound Shore Medical Center
Staff Give the Gift of Life

Sound Shore Medical Center’s (SSMC) staff recently recorded a successful Employee Blood Drive. With 38 generous staff members rolling up their sleeves to “Give the Gift of Life”, SSMC’s Blood Donor Program now has blood that can make a difference in the lives of many. From accident victims to those with chronic conditions– blood is always in demand. In fact more than 38,000 pints of blood are needed daily in the United States, alone. That’s why it is so important to donate. And why Sound Shore Medical Center employees do their part.

In addition to the reward of helping others, the Blood Donor Program staff wanted to show their appreciation to employees for their unselfish contribution. So, they enlisted the assistance of businesses located on Main Avenue in New Rochelle. Not only were delicious donuts provided by Dunkin Donuts, but also mouth-watering sandwiches were donated by AJ Burgers. And the Program staff didn’t stop with food - donors also received give-a-ways contributed by Stuart Patchen of Patchen-Bernabei, Inc. of New Rochelle. After choosing their gift, employees entered a raffle drawing featuring items from caring staff and friends, Linda Teneyck and Jean Hymes. From baseball caps and tee-shirts to an array of Sound Shore Medical Center promotional items and more, the event offered appealing items that all said “thank you”.

Anyone wishing to donate blood is welcome to make an appointment on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays by calling 914.365.3664. Your donations are for the exclusive use of Sound Shore Medical Center patients. There is no substitute for blood. That is what makes donors so invaluable – only YOU can give the Gift of Life.

As one of only two hospitals in Westchester County certified by the New York State Department of Health to conduct blood drives, Sound Shore Medical Center’s Blood Donor Coordinator will gladly work with you to plan a successful Blood Drive for your church, synagogue or civic organization.

For more information about scheduling a blood drive or about donating blood, please contact Christine Robertson at 914.365.3664.
